The US president rallied in Clemson, South Carolina, for Republican senator Darline Graham on 21 October. Tension marked the event as several demonstrators were removed and in at least two instances Trump supporters allegedly physically attacked them. Demonstrations have frequently taken place at Trump’s rallies in recent weeks, while the president has brushed off the disruption as being carried out by ‘paid protesters’
